Miyama's Eco-Drive Navigation System Earned ANRE Director General Award
Miyama Inc.,
a company offering environmental consulting and other services, announced on January
16 that the company's MHS-01 Eco Drive Navigation System earned the ANRE (Agency
for Natural Resources and Energy) Director General Award, part of the Grand Prize
for Energy Conservation(selection and recognition of outstanding equipment and
systems.)
For the 2003 Grand Prize for
Energy Conservation, three METI (Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry) Minister
Awards, five ANRE (Agency for Natural Resources and Energy) Director General Awards,
and 15 Energy Conservative Center Chairman's Awards were selected among 97 applicants.
The MHS-01 is an on-board
system which instantaneously analyzes driving conditions and vehicle performance,
and gives the driver real time instructions on what to do for economical and environmentally
friendly driving through voice message assistance and seven graphic warnings.
The operation management software attached to the system analyzes each trip based
on data recorded on the memory card. Such analysis can be utilized for drivers'
training programs.
Miyama conducted a fleet test
of the system in cooperation with a transport company. During the test, the system
was installed on two 20-ton trucks used by six drivers in their regular services
for a period of three weeks. The test revealed that the use of the system resulted
in an average of 22% improvement in fuel economy, achieving more than 6 kilometers
per liter.
In the announcement, Miyama
expressed its resolve to further pursue the development of environmentally-friendly
products.
The prize awarding ceremony
will be held on February 12 at the Tokyo Big Sight. |
