PRESS RELEASE
MHS-01 Eco DriveNavigation System Earned the ANRE Director General Award of the 2003 Grand Prize for Energy Conservation
Miyama Inc. (President: Eiji Minami, Headquarters: 1-1-12 Tanbajima, City of Nagano, Nagano Prefecture, Phone: 026-285-4166) is greatly honored to announce that the MHS-01 Eco Drive Navigation System has earned the ANRE (Agency for Natural Resources and Energy) Director General Award, part of the 2003 Grand Prize for Energy Conservation ( selection and recognition of outstanding equipment and systems) sponsored by the Energy Conservation Center (Chairman: Sho Nasu, Address: 3-19-9 Hachobori, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.)
Miyama has offered a wide spectrum of environmental services including environmental consulting, designing and construction of environmental plants, recycling and appropriate treatment of industrial wastes, environmental analysis, and development and distribution of environmental equipment.
Miyama developed the MHS-01 Eco Drive Navigation System by focusing on human factors, or driving practices of the driver. The system analyzes the driving conditions and vehicle performance, and gives the driver real time instructions on what to do for economical and environmentally friendly driving. The use of the system contributes to both economy and ecology by saving fuel and reducing substances hazardous to environment such as carbon dioxide.
Miyama conducted a fleet test of the system in cooperation with a logistic company last year. During the test, the system was installed on two 20-ton trucks used by six drivers in their regular services for a period of three weeks. The test revealed that the use of the system resulted in an average of 22% improvement in fuel economy, achieving more than 6 kilometers per liter. A number of environment-conscious logistic companies are currently introducing the system.
Taking advantage of this award, Miyama will further pursue the development of environmentally-friendly products.
The MHS-01 will be exhibited at the Award Winners Section in ENEX 2004 (the 28th Energy and Environment Exhibition.) The exhibition will be held in Tokyo (Venue: Tokyo Big Sight Period: February 12 to 14) and Osaka (Venue: Intex Osaka, Period: February 19 to 21.) Miyama will also run a booth at the exhibition. A promotional video of the MHS-01 will be shown and the operation management software attached to the system will be presented at the booth. This exhibition is held every February, the Month of Energy Conservation.
